Location: Raleigh, NC I work somewhere that serves alcohol. There is a 2 drink per visit limit. A customer came in and had 2 and left. Over an hour later, they returned and I served them 1 more and went to lunch. (Policy is per visit. If they leave for a period if time and return, they can be served.) They were not showing any signs of intoxication when they were served. Several people can attest to that. While at lunch, they started showing signs of intoxication. Another customer decided to call the police and report them. They didn't notify any managers or staff of their concern. When I returned from lunch, I was informed the police had been called. The customer in question had not made any attempt to leave and drive themselves home. I would not have served the customer another as they appeared impaired. Because the police where called, there is now a corporate investigation. By all accounts, customers and managers, I had not done anything wrong. They agreed the customer did not appear impaired at the time they were served. It appears I will lose my job. I've never had an issue/been written up or lectured prior to this. My record is spotless. If I am terminated as it appears I will be, what are my legal rights?
