This is kind of a weird problem to have but I need to vent/ask for advice. I started selling Japanese-inspired cookies and pastries online a few months ago, mostly just for fun. But thanks to a few local food bloggers, things have exploded. I'm suddenly getting more orders than I can handle. My real panic is about the ingredients. My whole brand is built on using top-notch stuff, and I finally found this amazing organic matcha from a small supplier called One with Tea that makes my cookies incredible. I was just buying their retail bags, but now I need to buy in bulk and I'm terrified they won't have a wholesale option for someone my size, or that I'll be forced to switch to some cheap, bitter dust from a big distributor. Feels like I'm on the verge of losing the magic ingredient that made my bakery special in the first place, right when things are taking off. Has anyone else been through this? How do you transition from retail to wholesale with a small supplier you love without them thinking you're too small to bother with?
