I understand completely my friend. I now insist that it is family first. Sure, there are emergencies that come up but only the emergencies get attention. The work I do has me on-call 24x7x365 as CIO/Director of IT for multiple healthcare organizations. My client-based staff take frontline, and I run with anything they need to escalate to me. In years past it was always me ... me me me fucking me! I had to make some sacrifices but at the end of the day ... I like the man I am and the person I see looking back in the mirror. Getting past that feeling is hard but regaining your freedom is exhilarating. You remember freedom, don't you? That thing that we all struck out on our own to find. ;)
