I don't usually hire people but when I do I want to make sure they are bringing a positive ROI, meaning if I spend 3k on an employee a month I expect that his labor generates me at least 10k per month after say 3 months at most. Now I know the business world is difficult to predict at times but it's a good rule of thumb to know who's gonna be worth it and who's gonna waste my time. With that said, I find it very difficult to hire people. When I use upwork all I find is third worlders and when they are americans they charge at least 10 times the price, while delivering about the same results. I'm all for hiring americans and europeans but if I don't see profitability it's a non-starter. So I have to go for the third worlders and let me tell you; they are awful to work with. I've never had the fortune to find a person in a non-first world country that has performed consistently good, on time, communicating properly and in general doing a good job. So I'm here to ask you, where do you find and hire people that produce a positive return on investment? I'm open to teach these people but they have to have the attitude that allows it, meaning good communication (not taking 1 hour to respond per message) and following orders properly.
