They have a company that is handling our website SEO and Google Ads, but they aren't generating any leads to speak of, definitely not what I would expect a professional to generate. Our competitors have much better websites, social media campaigns, and digital ads. The website doesn't convert. It's not unattractive, but we were promised something competitive, and it's not working. I feel like I should sue. The other brands the franchise has are using the digital marketing company and getting good results; it's just our brand that isn't getting any results at all. All of the owners are on their own doing in local Google ads and really getting business from their reviews. That's not possible for a new location since we don't have customers or reviews yet. My franchise fee was a waste of money. I'm considering suing the franchisor to return the fee plus other expenses we've incurred as a result of their lie; it can't be anything else. I asked specifically about how they are getting leads and made sure it didn't rely on me meeting people face-to-face in trade shows and such, but that's literally what the existing owners are having to do. I am paying for the marketing company that's in charge of the website, SEO, and Google Ads because that's all the franchise offered to handle. I'm on my own for social media content and advertising, which is also part of the lie. I am not good at advertising, especially creating content, which is why I was so adamant about getting some proof that they were generating leads from the efforts of the Franchisor. I feel like that's the only value they could offer for the money spent on the franchise fee. I'm already contacting lawyers. I'm kind of just venting here. I'm very good with business valuation and financial planning; it's my day job currently. I am not good with advertising and marketing, so that's the only piece I needed help with, and I thought a franchise would speed that up, clearly, it didn't in this case. They actually showed me proof of leads coming in through their efforts with the other brands they own, from actual owners I talked to in person. They used that to show me they could do the same for me when I got started, but they aren't. I've gotten 1 lead in 3 weeks. I didn't know this until today, but the other owners in my brand aren't using the franshisor's digital advertising at all, because it sucks and doesn't work. We aren't allowed to have our own website, so we can't just hire our own marketing company without franchisor permission, which we are seeking. We need a cohesive approach to marketing that ties together social media, Google Ads, places page, reviews, website, with campaigns that have their own ads and landing pages. We can't do that because they've restricted us to using their chosen company for the website, which is the hingepin of the whole thing. I'm not sure what I can do. I'm unlikely to get my money back, so I'll have to push through and figure it out.
