Location: De Moines area Since our crew got replaced our manager (who I don’t believe to be trained) has been having a hard time keeping the store clean. I’ve messaged him multiple times about trash and other morning work being left for closers to do or finish, he says the new crew is not ready to do their assigned job and also a weekly and daily chore because it would be too much for them (they have been there 3-4 months). Yesterday my manager cornered me and claimed that I was “turning other employees against him” because he had noticed a mood shift in the other closers (he did not let me defend myself though this conversation and would only talk over me with “yes you did” or “no I’m right”) He claimed I’m leaving the store a mess and leaving trash everywhere he mentioned a “a few days ago” that I had left trash, when I asked another employee about it she told me it was her another person, I was not there that day. He claimed I told a woman to “leave and not come back” because I didn’t want to serve her, when I asked for any detail about her or who helped translate because I could not remember he refused there was no complaint filed either. He accused me of being the sole reason as to why we have a hostile work environment and that I’m the reason other closers are not doing their jobs. When I tried to remind him about times he had left trash for us, he said “look around is it there? Is the trash there? Are the dishes there? He had made sure they were done THAT day, dishes and trash are never done, most cleanings are not. I will add, yes I complain, but I do not leave the store without finishing their work, and my work. I work a minimum of 33 hours every week, today our schedule came out, I work two days. He did not give me any kind of heads up, when I asked he said “I don’t need you anymore.” He claims I’m not fired but because it’s getting cold out I’m no longer needed, he also claimed if I ask anyone for hours he is going to reject it because I don’t need the hours, I told him I live on my own and need to pay my rent he said “yeah me too so I don’t know.” I’m 18, I don’t know what to do or who to contact when I’ve messaged the GM she makes excuses for him and claims that morning people don’t have time because it’s too busy in the morning, but then claims that they’re down a person because there’s not enough customers? Please help I don’t have anyone to turn to.
