I’m 24 years old, making $95K with good benefits as a Senior Accountant in the nonprofit sector. I like my job, and I like my coworkers. We’re hybrid — three days remote and two days in the office. I get three weeks of PTO and a 4% match. It’s a very small nonprofit, and the accounting team is pretty small. I’m next in line for the CFO role when ours retires in about six years. The problem is that I’m not learning much anymore, and what I am learning is hyper-specific to this nonprofit and its processes. The systems are very outdated, and the board has zero motivation to approve updates. We just had an audit request that took us a combined 14 hours because we had to dig through thousands of paper files — everything is still printed. I could go on much longer, but you get the point. FWIW Ive been at the job for 4 months now.
