I know this sounds weird, but I'm chronically ill and can't go without insurance. I've been looking for a job, but my main area of expertise (healthcare research), has seen incredible cuts right so starting my plan A, a consulting job, isn't feasible. On top of all that, insurance costs and premiums are set to go through the roof next year, so my plan of getting ACA insurance are out the window too. You might be wondering why 6-12 months or maybe why I wouldn't have to worry about insurance after that, well, I'm really hoping to move abroad at that time. I do have potential job leads, but the pay is abysmal, so I'd need to save up money. That's why I have a window for when I can't make money and when I can. I've honestly been waffling with starting an online business for like a decade now, but nothing has panned out. I know the basics of what people do, but I'd really like something I don't need to put a lot of money into as I likely won't be able to do this job when I move abroad (no digital nomad visas to the countries I want to live in). That's why consulting was such a great idea, almost no financial investment or overhead and it's really easy to schedule when you want to stop. Anyway, the only thing I can think of that I could do is possibly write some books (print, not self publish as it's possible I wouldn't be able to make that kind of income while abroad either). I have a PhD and extensive travel experience abroad, so I was thinking about leveraging my knowledge from either of those, but I just have never come up with something good. Thoughts?
