I used to spend hours overthinking every idea or project. I’d have notes scattered everywhere, long pros/cons lists, 10+ tabs open… but at the end of the day, no real progress. What finally helped was shrinking everything into one simple framework: **SWOT analysis** (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats). Once I started using it, decisions got way clearer: * **Strengths (internal, positive):** What am I already good at that gives me an edge? (skills, resources, advantages I control) * **Weaknesses (internal, negative):** What’s holding me back inside my control? (gaps in skills, lack of focus, limited resources) * **Opportunities (external, positive):** What’s happening outside me that I could benefit from? (market trends, new tech, unmet needs) * **Threats (external, negative):** What’s out there that could hurt me, even if I do everything right? (competition, regulation, economic risks) That separation was the game-changer: strengths/weaknesses are about *me*, opportunities/threats are about the *environment*. It sounds basic, but putting everything in those 4 boxes stopped me from spiraling in “fake work.” Instead of endless planning, I could see in one glance if something was worth pursuing or if I should move on. I ended up building a **free little app** that lets me do this on my phone in minutes. Been using it for my own ideas, but figured it might help others too. 👉 I’ll put the links in the comments (mods don’t like them in the post). Do you guys use any frameworks like this when deciding whether to stick with an idea or pivot?
