Location: Michigan I worked at a Michigan company for one year. They accomodated my disablitiy by letting me work 4 days per week instead of 5. One month ago, I was let go. They told me my position was eliminated due to budget cuts. Now here's the info about the two employees that got to stay. They both had the same position as me. The first one was a coworker who had been at the company longer than me--she worked around 2-3 hours per week for them. She got to stay because she had seniority over me. As for the other employee who stayed, my employer had bought out a competitor and the person who had a comprable position was brought onto our team. He had been working at his company longer than I had been working at mine so they told me he also had seniority over me. This experience has felt unfair. From the moment I started working with them, I could quickly tell I had different socio-political views than everyone else. In fact, at a work conference, the president of the company started out his company-wide talk by doing a trump impression and making fun of democrats. This quickly made me feel like I needed to be on my best behavior or else. And for the year that I worked there, I was absolutely on my best behavior. I was told on my last day that I was a fantastic employee and the whole thing had nothing to do with me, my job performance, my attitude, or anything to do with me. Even if this sounded like a legit case (which I know it probably doesn't), I don't have a hope of anything happening. I just want some peace of mind.
