We are running a web agency. Just from networks, we've had a few clients but now it's running a bit stale so we're starting on social media. To be honest, so far he has taken some weight off my shoulders but it's not really that much. I do the design and development, he can't do any of those so he was focusing on client acquisition to no luck but we got clients because I knew some people. He handles all the operations, but so far it hasn't been that much to do on his side. So now that we're starting on social media, I'm already proposing a marketing strategy for us and I suggest we take our branding more seriously too. His response is "why don't we just post some stuff and see what works"? I don't think this is a bad thing necessarily, I like the idea of jumping first and learning as you go but I find it hard to move without clarity. I am thinking that we should at least first define our target audience and understand their pain points first, then think about our value proposition to them. When I mention that, he just rolls his eyes and just suggest we just post somet stuff and see. This is just one example, but so far he doesn't concern himself with any sort of strategy at all and it seems our way of thinking is just so different and it feels hard to collaborate? Whenever I present any sort of theory or strategy, he seems to have no value to give and there's no further discussion. But I'm not criticizing it because we're still early stage and there's not that much feedback to gather data from yet to even tell if either I'm thinking too early about this or if he is incompetent. Any similar experiences or insights about this?
