I need to bring up an important topic that not many people talk about because there aren’t as many of us out there but we are seriously not your bi*ch. I am so sick and tired of being told I need to “guide” sales, marketing, and even finance leaders in “metrics” and “process”. If you are leaders, shouldn’t you know what processes need to be in place and metrics need to be measured? I understand if you are a first time manager or if you are new to the industry, but if you have been for YEARS and have been leading a team for MORE years, I just don’t understand how you are unfamiliar with best practices. We live in the world of AI and a plethora of information. Just Google or chatGPT it. Of course, use your judgement and experience to filter out ridiculous information. I am 4 years into my career and I feel like I am babysitting a room full of adults who claim they know what they are doing. If you knew what you were doing, you would also know that the reason you can’t “trust the data” is partly due to the fact that you are not coaching your reps to follow the correct processes. So here’s how it works: -> RevOps configures CRM -> data flows in from data providers or imports -> rep MUST double check and clean up accounts. At the latest, when they are working the account (sorry the tech is just not good enough yet) -> consistent maintenance by the reps of accounts to ensure they’re up to date -> a bunch of automations are fired throughout this to automate some of the manual work -> RevOps can report I’m not saying we’re perfect. We make plenty of mistakes. I once deduped accounts without toggling “exact match”, so random accounts were merged. We fuck up too. But when we do, just give us some grace. We don’t huff and puff when you accidentally delete an automation (C-level privileges in CRMs r crazy but that’s a convo for another time); we just focus on fixing it. And understand that we are not there just to create reports for you on demand. If we push back on your vision because we know there is a better way, just hear us out. Trust me, we are smarter than you think.
