Hoping to get some advice from people who have also considered a similar change in career path My current role is a dream job for most people: fully remote, above market pay with nice benefits, great manager. However, I’m just unhappy with the work and month end close is starting to burn me out working 65+ hours every first week of the month. I’ve received an offer from the City and it’ll be a 20% pay cut and hybrid (3 days in office, 2 remote). What motivated me to apply was the work life balance, 40 hour work weeks, and stability (not having to worry about layoffs). However, I’m curious if the government roles are really as chill and relaxed as people make it out to be? Going from remote to hybrid will be a difficult adjustment as well. Maybe the hard truth is I should just suck it up because the flexibility and money is worth it. I don’t care or want to climb the corporate ladder, so my industry salary may top out similar to government pay near retirement.
