I want to find out what accountants and tax preparers are struggling with on the day to day. What manual spreadsheets could you do away with? For instance, calculating year end payroll looking at a paystub (not payroll taxes but for tax planning). Instead of counting pay periods on a calendar and making a spreadsheet, a simple online tool would be alleviate 10-20 minutes of configuring that answer. Along those lines, what other time-consuming tasks do you wish were easier and more efficient with software/tools/calculators? Edit: I am new to reddit so I did NOT realize how many AI agents were punching out this corny question. For those of you who care, let me explain my background a bit to further verify who I am and why I'm doing this. I started a virtual tax practice in 2019 before the pandemic and grew it to 150-200 clients due to the pandemic (right place right time) with 400+ returns going out per year. As a solopreneur, I burned out, my health suffered and I almost gave up last year (2024). If anyone has ever had daily panic attacks during busy season due to the feeling of "how the heck will I get through this again", they can relate to this. Over a year ago, I threw away that business model and shifted to becoming an advisory company. Biggest risk I ever took but it paid off when I replaced my revenue with about 40 clients instead of 150-200 and the work is impactful and value-added. I implemented TaxDome and it was a game changer (no this is not a promotion) and a couple of team members. From there I learned to build systems and let software upgrade everything to an efficient machine. Big problem I ran into - software of today is still not allowing me to do what I need to do efficiently day-to-day. Why are tax projections taking so long, why are answering simple tax, accounting and financial questions so hard, etc. I'm tired of excel and manual work. With my extra time, I learned to code and got eerily good at it. Now I create free software missing in the world today for business owners and accountants. I'm here to help, not to sell. I promise I want $0 from you but only to help. Believe it or not, but that's my story in a nutshell.
