My local is 332 and the jw wage is $91/hr im currently at $52/hr concrete mixer driver for Central Concrete Teamsters Local 853. Started August 2022. The top guys at my job make like $150k + a year but thats with working like every Saturday and getting 60+ hours a week. My job is strictly by seniority so right now im 55 on the list i was 69 when i started. Pretty much the top 40 guys work every day. Its has been absolutely miserable at times for me working one day a week 2 or 3 if i was lucky for months at a time. I guess the main benefit of my current job would be job security with seniority over time. Once im like 10 years in itd be pretty recession proof as even during covid and recessions theres at least like 20 guys working every day. Unless the the company shut down completely. My biggest gripe is also not knowing what time i start and what time im gonna be off as with many construction jobs and not knowing until 5pm the evening before what time im scheduled or if im even scheduled to work… It sucks when i start the entire week from 7-8am then get a 2am start time on a Saturday. Its defeating knowing i wont sleep much. How common is it for ibew 332 electricians to make 150k plus or 200k? Pros of my current job Job security with seniority over time Easy work Comfortability 15-25 minutes from my house Cons -Much lower wage than ibew -Lots of mandatory Saturdays -Volatile shift start times and end times -3 years in and still really inconsistent work. -Currently really low on seniority so im one of the last ones to start and one of the last ones to leave.
