Location: Indiana. So a bit of background my dad was working I guess the term subcontractor with helping renovating a house since he has a small business but he works under a person which that person would pay my dad so my dad can pay his worker (my dad workers). So the problem started when my dad was close to finishing the whole project, some of the tasks were completed and he was asking for payment for the task that was completed since it had been a few weeks of excuse not paying him. In total this person owes my dad a 5-figure and my dad needed to pay his workers and also bills. The issue is this guy does not want to pay my dad at all at first but then was going to give him not even half of what he owes. My dad was willing to accept a lower offer since we need to pay bills and the workers but he refused. So it was a bit back and forth and the guy was like ok I am going to pay you this amount of money and to meet at this location and this time. So my dad went and the guy never showed up. So my dad was keeping contact until this person blocked him and so my dad had to contact someone else who worked for them and said that they were going to pay him until the end of the week. Fast forward they never did so my dad was going to put a lien on the house but I am not sure who advised him not to do that so my dad is still deciding if that's good or not. Before that my dad let them know that he was going to put a lien on the house which the person that is the only one talking to my dad is saying that he can’t because of the contract, there is no contract sign only text message proving that they had an agreement but nothing in those text message ever mention not being able to put a lien. They keep switching up about when they are going to pay my dad. At one point they said that they were going to pay the full amount but in payment but when are those payments arriving? Then they say they are going to pay by the end of the week but they never do. What are our options to be able to get the full payment? Some people are telling my dad to go to his office and see if he can get the payment.
