Hi all. I’m in the process of buying property overseas and need to wire a pretty large amount of money soon. My bank offered to do it, but the exchange rate markup they quoted was brutal (I’d be losing thousands on top of the transfer fees). I’ve seen some apps advertise better rates, but I’m nervous about using them for something this big. It’s not like sending $500 (we’re talking six figures here), and I really don’t want to risk delays or problems. For those of you who’ve done large international transfers (like real estate or investments), did you stick with banks just for peace of mind or have you found alternatives that are both secure and cost-effective?
