I've been a Fed at Treasury for many years and the shit that has been going on since last January has taken a toll on my mental health. Yesterday two of my friends got RIF notices because Vought the Vampire decided he needs to use actual humans to try to make a point. I just don't think I can continue to work here. I have a job offer with a small local firm that seems awesome. We've worked out an arrangement that I can do 40 hours a week, work from home as needed (the office is 15 min away) the 10 weeks of busy seeason and the rest of the year is 25 hours a week. They do not do billable hours and I do not have to go chase clients. They are matching what I make at the fed per hour. They are super nice and have been very understanding. However everyone around me tells me I am being emotional. I am a gs-14 at and there's no pension at the CPA firm. But we've put so much money away that we are way ahead of the curve. Does mental health not count for anything? And for the record, I don't think the torturing will stop. THey will steal the midterms and the 2028 election. What would you do? My job at the govt is pretty secure - I am in a revenue producing role. I am just sick of the BS and it's hard to not engage with it when you are IN IT.
