I'm selling my house in the in a few months and have been looking for real estate agents. It's an historically listed Queen Anne Victorian, built 1888, so I contacted a couple of real estate firms that claimed to specialize in historical homes and claim to have national and even international reach. Both gave me low figures and were snippy and sleazy. I didn't like or trust them--I'd rather go with someone I know. I'm wondering whether their claim to specialize and be able to advertise outside their area is something that other real estate agents can't do. I've seen lots of places on Zillow because was looking for another house myself on the other side of the country. So I'm wondering, given Zillow and other online resources whether other agents would do just as well at accessing the market outside of my area and whether The reason I'm especially interested is because I don't have location, location, location. My house is in a leafy but unfashionable suburb. Neighborhood is solidly middle to upper middle class but the town is locally viewed as dowdy and not cool. I'd be most grateful for any advice.
