About 5 years ago I started a business with my friend out of my shop. We originally were making simple aftermarket car parts but then after a year I became really interested in EV Conversions. I build my first one, and then a second one as a proof of concept. I took on a couple clients who wanted their cars restored from the ground up an also converted. I have been working with them and have a backlog of other clients looking to have their cars done. At this point I have tried 4 insurance agents, all the online insurance, and I cannot seem to get any coverage. This is not only preventing me form moving to a commercial space, but feel like I am taking a huge liability risk by not having any. This has been a dream that I have been working on for 4 years straight every single night and weekend outside of my day job. It kills me to think I need to give up simply because I can't get insurance. Not because the business isn't making money or we do bad work, but because we can't get insured. Anyone ever run into similar situations? We've floated the idea of just making sure our contracts are as tight as possible, have a good lawyer on retainer, and continue as an LLC to cover ourselves the best we can. Our biggest fear is liability if something were to fail on a car we worked on and getting sued for it
