Location: Colorado I just moved into a new home belinging to a man who owns like 5 homes in our city and is an experienced landlord. This is his personal home but there are 3 other tenants her besides him. Before renting from him he seems so kind and genuine. I never felt the need to bring up the fact that I have a spine injury and just underwent my 2nd surgery and am having issues with that. I can't stand or walk for more than about 2 minutes and have huge weakness and total numbness in my right leg. Essentially monipelgic. But I thought that was my business and mine alone. I paid 1st months rent plus a deposit and moved in to the only bedroom on the main floor. There were 2 others in the basement and 2 upstairs. Before arriving I was told tbe upstairs shower didn't work and I'd have to use the basement one. I have trouble climbing stairs but figured I could handle just this one issue, with my cane. My first day in the new home, I got locked out of the front door. Little did I know, they have a house rule (for no reason) against using the front door. My key doesnt even unlock it, so I went out and got stuck out. It's the closest place to park near my room and the shortest walk despite having stairs to climb. I was told by my landlord that he prefers people to use the back door, and he said it would be fine for me since its ramped. However, it's a half block walk from the back door to where I can park my car. Huge issue when carrying anything or grocery shopping. He told me to order grocery delivery (who's paying?). So I went along with it and started using that door. The first night doing so, I had to go grab something from my car (making multiple trips to avoid hurting my back) and came back and locked out. No one told me that the door automatically locks itself. The landlord is super into chinese traditional medicine and pulled me aside one day and told me that my back issues were happened because I drknk too much diet coke and the phophoric acid was leaking calcium from my spine. Ok? The most major issues now are that things are escelating and he is asking for rent months in advance. The bathroom on the main level has now broken and so I have to climb stairs just to pee, which is a huge issue when you have continence issues from a spine issue. I also just fonally got a rollator/walker paid for by my insurance and it has been sich a godsend and a relief. But my landlord is obsessed with shoes off in the house. To the point that it was a clause in the lease. Tonight he took me aside and told me that I am ok still using my walker inside for now, but he would like me to by and inisde walker when I have money and have one for inside and one for outside. I told him my insurance will only pay for one and he said it should be an issue since I am working a better paying job now. The house is starting to feel more and more hostile I don't want to pay my rent in a couple of days (I pay for the upcoming month) and I want my deposit back so I can find a new place. Do i have any standing here?
